Care & installation

Proper installation and maintenance of hospitality wallcoverings ensure their longevity and performance in high-traffic environments. This guide outlines essential steps for substrate preparation, adhesive selection, seam handling, cleaning protocols, light exposure management, and expected durability, tailored to the specific needs of hospitality settings.

Substrate Preparation

Begin with a clean, dry, and smooth surface. Remove any existing adhesives, grease, or residue using a mild detergent and water. Ensure the substrate is free from cracks or unevenness; fill gaps with a suitable compound and allow it to cure fully. For porous surfaces, apply a primer to create a stable base. In areas with high humidity, verify that the substrate is moisture-free to prevent future adhesion failures.

Paste Type and Application

Select the correct adhesive based on the wallcovering’s material and the environment. Water-based pastes are ideal for low-traffic areas, offering ease of cleanup. For high-traffic zones, use a starch-based adhesive for enhanced durability and resistance to peeling. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for paste consistency and application. Apply paste evenly to the back of the wallcovering, avoiding excess that could cause bubbling or uneven adhesion.

Seam Handling and Alignment

Seams must be aligned precisely to ensure a seamless appearance. Use a seam roller to press seams firmly, ensuring adhesion and minimizing visibility. Avoid stretching the material, as this can cause distortion or buckling. In high-traffic areas, reinforce seams with a seam tape or additional adhesive for added stability. Trim excess material carefully to avoid overhangs that may lift over time.
